Flo's Scopes Playground 1

SCOPES #1 through #12
Updated, October 27, 2004

FLO (tonebytone at webtv.net) invites you to scoop up the scopes that interest you and play with them ~~ this is a playground, not a tute. Tutes have explicit instructions; this Playground contains examples, codes and suggestions. Codes for each scope are in textareas below them.

Here's a listing and description of scope attributes.

For another kind of playground, take one of these codes to Tom Landrum's wonderful tool, SCOPE-on-the-Fly.

FRANK'S 3-PIXEL ADJUSTMENT

To make scopes align perfectly with tables, you must add 3-pixels to the right side of the table. As always, experiment. If you can't tell any difference, then don't add the extra pixels.

INVISIBLE SCOPES

If you make the left and right colors the same as the page's bgcolor, in this case black, and the scope bgcolor different, you will not see the scope lines until the music plays. (Let the mod finish playing and then the scope will go invisible until the mod loads again.) There are other ways to do this, too. Please see Flo's Scopes Playground 7 for more on invisible scopes.

The following scopes are numbered for no special reason, except for identifying them if you want to discuss them with someone else:

SCOPE #1

Please see Page 7 for more invisible scopes.

SCOPE #2 - FAKE "CONNECTING BAR" - Scope bgcolor and leftcolor are black, makes the scope "invisible" unless the music is playing.

SCOPE #3 - "SCULPTED" SCOPE - Got this from someone in a ng, don't remember who! :-(

SCOPE #4 - MAXLEVEL ATTRIBUTE - The scopes at either side of the table below show two strange horizontal lines at their tops. These are the maxlevels for each scope. If the scopes are made the same color as the webpage bgcolor, only the maxlevel lines will show up. (This is not my scoping)

SCOPE #5 - ANOTHER MAXLEVEL SCOPE

SCOPE #6 - Scopes 6 and 7 seem to pop out of their allotted heights of 15 pixels. The scopes default height is 80. So since the height is specified way below that, the scopes are literally bursting at the seams. No gain is specified, either, so they use the default value of 1 pixel. Left and right offsets are 0 and -0 respectively.

SCOPE #7

SCOPE #8 - "VENETIAN BLINDS" - Before the sound starts, these scopes will look like a series of parallel horizontal lines.

SCOPE #9 - This effect is caused by making each scope only 3 pixels high, but varying the bgcolor and gain of each scope and packing them tightly together.

SCOPE #10 - This single scope's subtle effect is caused by using bgcolor and left and right colors very close in value to each other: silver, white and lightgray respectively. Gain is the same as the height.

SCOPE #11 - Very similar to the above, but the rightcolor is black.

SCOPE #12 - Again, very similar to the above (Scopes 10 and 11). But this features 2 scopes stacked, with the leftcolors still white, but the rightcolors and bgcolors are different.
