A CHEROKEE SHAMAN'S HATUN KARPAY EXPERIENCE

• WALKING THE INKA PATH

Eileen Nauman, DHM(UK), is one-eighth Eastern Cherokee and was trained in this shamanic tradition by her father. Eileen took the Hatun Karpay initiations in October, 1999, just about one year after my experiences. All she wanted was a healing and a condor feather. However, certain 'others' had different plans for her. Apparently, Eileen has been given the responsibility of bringing forth certain types of 'lost' information about the ancient Andean energy systems. Who has charged her with this responsibility? Well, those residents of the Upper World, a particular ñust'a and some condor spirits, who help maintain the energy connections at the various Andean sacred sites! Eileen was able to communicate with some of these beings on this, her first trip to the Andes. She knows that she is to return to bring forth more information and plans to do so in May, 2000. Her story of her adventures reads like a wonderful novel - but these adventures are true! I encourage all of you who are reading this to go to her site for a real thought-provoking read!

Note: Eileen returned from a second trip to Peru and Machu Picchu (June, 2000) with lots more information about certain specific temples, their niches, Huayna Pikchu and a few other sites. She plans to discuss these experiences and discoveries in a book, no publication date set at this time.

• WIRAQOCHA FOUNDATION FOR THE PRESERVATION OF INDIGENOUS WISDOM

Elizabeth Jenkins' website for the foundation she established to further the preservation of the Andean indigenous wisdom. It was under the sponsorship of this foundation that I went to Peru for the Hatun Karpay initiation. The foundation also sponsors other types of spiritually oriented trips to Peru and Bolivia, including the gathering of 144 fourth level priests in August, 2000. Elizabeth also travels extensively, teaching Andean spiritual concepts and techniques of working with energies. Through this non-profit foundation, Elizabeth helps support various charitable projects in Peru. Five hundred dollars (USA) of the cost of the Hatun Karpay trip is tax deductible (in the USA) and is used to finance these projects. Additional donations are gratefully accepted.

MAPS OF PERU

• CATALOG OF MAPS OF PERU

Here's a tremendous resource for ordering any and all types of maps of Peru. The maps of the various provinces all date from the mid 1980s, so may be quite out of date. Also, some, especially the Cusco maps are quite often out of print. But there are a few modern maps of Cusco and Lima. All maps seem to be in Spanish. Also offered are topographical maps of coastal Peru and some interior regions, and geological and metallurgical maps.

• COLOR MAP OF MACHU PICCHU

Scroll down this page until you get to the above listing. Price is only $6.00 US. New, this full-color fold-out map gives precise locations of sites like the Condor Temple and the Temple of the Sun. Every niche, window and doorway is marked, plus the outlines and locations of boulders; locations of baths, caves, 'mortars.' In fact, I'll bet that even the step count is accurate! Indispensible for lovers of Machu Picchu. When exploring the various temples there, it's easy to get turned around, but with this map, it should be impossible to get lost. The South American Explorers Club has a lot of other maps of and books about various places and countries in South America, but this link takes you to the Peru page.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

• QOSQO, INKAS' SACRED CAPITAL (Cusco, Cuzco - Peru)

This wonderful site is packed with historical and archaeological information about Cuzco, Machu Pikchu and most of the other Inkan ruins and temples in the Sacred Valley surrounding Cuzco. Great articles on: Inkan religion, general and city planning, materials and lithic technology, Inkan architecture, agriculture, coca leaves, Andean camelids, Andean condor, Inkan city of Qosqo, present-day festivities and much, much more, interspersed with wonderful photographs. A native of Cuzco and author of this website, Vicente Goyzueta "will answer your queries or get you in touch with the best Tour Guides and Tour Operators not only in Qosqo (Cusco) but all over Peru. Vicente is also available for any lectures about the former Capital of the Inkas." He has also written a guidebook containing much of this information, but the book apparently is sold only in Cuzco. Scroll clear to bottom of home page for a link to the Spanish version of this site.
